Tools to connect

The tech village

The goal of 0rijin’s tech village is to synergize the assets of our communities and to envision innovative models of wealth distribution. By introducing new tech applications and tools, 0rijin seeks to increase participation in the digital economy and to better connect melanated consumers and business owners.

With the melanated community being drastically underrepresented in the tech sector, 0rijin also aims to increase digital training and improve access to technological resources. Our long-term vision is to develop the world’s first melanated tech village in Montreal, which we hope will ultimately serve as a blueprint for communities and cities around the world.

UP: the plug-in

In order to identify black-owned businesses and black consumers, we developed the browser plug-in UP. It serves as a directory for black businesses, organizations, services and goods providers.

Using the plugin, consumers will be able to search for discounts offered by black-owned businesses around the world. They will also be able to redeem rewards at local stores through our blockchain point-of-sale system.

UP will also be available as a mobile application and a decentralized application.

shopUP: marketplace

shopUP is an e-commerce platform aimed at entrepreneurs of melanated communities. shopUP means that entrepreneurs can create their own online store, while consumers can find services and products from melanated businesses in one marketplace.

Socially responsible models of monetization will structure the marketplace of shopUP and incentivize businesses for creating awesome online experiences.

A cooperative advertising model ensures fair redistribution of revenues. A portion of the revenues from advertising will be redistributed to the customers as rewards, and to the merchants as credits for ads.

Income generated from a premium account will be reinvested. Revenues from a transaction-based fee will be partly reinvested in structuring and/or immobilization projects in our communities.
